Detection of partial discharge in operating turbine generator using GHz-band spatial phase difference method

We developed PD detection system based on "Spatial Phase Difference Method" for detecting microwave (GHz) emitted from PD. We applied the PD detection system to the off-line turbine generator in the regular overhaul and the on-line turbine generator that had two built-in antennas. The detection system was able to detect the microwave emitted from PD of a few 1000 pC in operating turbine generator.
