THE NEW BRIDGE OVER THE LEK NEAR VIANEN II

The new bridge over the Lek near Vianen has been the subject of a study into the consequences of the removal of a bottleneck in the Dutch motorway network. The effects of the opening of the bridge to auto and rail transport in the morning peak hour are studied. In part I of the study (see IRRD 284667) the policy questions, the set up of the study and the results of the first interview of commuters to the city of Utrecht are mentioned. In part II results of an interview held after the opening with the same commuters are presented and a number of shifts of modal split are mentioned. (TRRL)
