Abstract We describe a time multiplexed programmable multichannel counter which shows optimized characteristics. This module is a microprocessor based system reinforced by a fast state-machine intended for high speed operation. Data analysis is performed in real time and displayed on a PC, but the module can operate in the stand-alone mode for data acquisition. A RS232C interface is the only link between the PC and the module, making it PC hard/software independent.
