A wireless communication system and method using grouping Maximum Lilelihood Detection

PURPOSE: A radio communication system using grouping MLD(Maximum Likelihood Detection) and a method therefor are provided to overcome the effects of multi-path fading and signal interference and to reduce the complexity of a calculation dependent on intrinsic spreading code length in MLD execution. CONSTITUTION: A grouping maximum likelihood detector consists of a multiplier, a group processing part(231), a grouping maximum approximate value detection/processing part(232), an integrated maximum approximate value detection/processing part(233), an orthogonal despreading part(234), and a parallel/serial conversion part(235). The multiplier multiplies input signals by an intrinsic spreading code(W1). The group processing part(231) executes grouping for the multiplied signals. The grouping maximum approximate value detection/processing part(232) performs MLD for the grouped block. The integrated maximum approximate value detection/processing part(233) executes total MLD, based on a grouping maximum approximate value. The orthogonal despreading part(234) executes orthogonal despreading for a sequence having the maximum approximate value and outputs it in parallel. The parallel/serial conversion part(235) converts the parallel outputted signal into a serial signal.
