Host name transfer method and device

The present invention relates to the field of network communications. Disclosed in an embodiment of the present invention are a host name transfer method and device, applied in a TRILL (Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links) network. The method comprises: receiving a first TRILL packet, obtaining the nickname of a route bridge (RB), the first TRILL packet carrying the nickname of the RB; receiving a second TRILL packet, obtaining the host name of the RB, the second TRILL packet carrying the host name of the RB; establishing and saving the mapping relationship between the nickname and the host name of the RB; obtaining the host name of the RB according to the nickname of the RB, and displaying the host name of the RB. The technical solution in the embodiment of the present invention provides a more user-friendly display result, thus enhancing network maintainability.
