Computing transient viscoelastic flows

Publisher Summary It is difficult to achieve stability in steady-flow computations with highly viscoelastic flows. This chapter discusses the progress in unsteady flow computations with high elasticity and shows some new results. Although progress is made in the computation of Eulerian steady flows with viscoelasticity, less work is done for the case of transient flows. It is more focused because of their importance in injection molding, blow molding, and other forming processes, as well as their intrinsic interest. The basic system of equations and boundary or initial conditions one need to solve and classify the various methods that are used both for steady and transient flows. Accurate predictions are still not guaranteed in transient flow simulations.
