Dynamic vs. Static Model Display Related to Children’s Tracing Performance

According to cybernetic theory, younger school children will receive more detailed feedback from dynamic than static model display in tracing/copying tasks. However, the positive effect of dynamic display is not considered to be additive by age as children are heavily affected by an instruction emphasizing static models at school. A study organized as a two-way design with 16 seven- and ten-year-old students was carried out. The results verified the proposed hypotheses, but further interaction studies seem to be needed.
