The two spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch is an important pest that attacks several crops of economic interest. Most of the time, its control has been done through the use of synthetic acaricides. However, problems associated with the use of these products as the selection of individuals resistant to some acaricides, environmental contamination, risk of poisoning of farmers and residues in foods, require alternatives to the exclusive use and abuse of chemical control. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of aqueous extract of mint Mentha spicata Crantz (Lamiaceae) on the survival of T. urticae. Jack-bean leaf disks were immersed in mint solutions at concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and water as control tranferred to each disc. After that, were five nymphs of T. urticae. The survival of T. urticae was evaluated daily for 120 hours. The survival of T. urticae did not vary significantly among treatments. Even the highest concentration tested (40%) did not interfere significantly in the survival of the mite, compared with the control.
