A Simple Fault Tolerant Multilevel Inverter Topology

This paper proposes a fault tolerant seven level inverter topology. The operation of the inverter when one or more switches are faulted is presented in this paper. In case of any fault in the switches the power output is ensured though at reduced number of voltage levels, which increases the reliability of the system. The redundant switching states enables fault tolerant operation of the inverter. In case of faults in the bidirectional switches the power output along with the voltage levels is maintained. The proposed system is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink.
