Optimal operation of chemical systems with recycle is considered. An optimization procedure, whereby the control variables are obtained by direct search, is developed.
Suitability of this method for optimizing chemical engineering systems with recycle is tested by considering three systems of different complexity. Results close to the optimum were obtained in each case. For complex systems, however, care must be taken to ensure that global and not local optimum is obtained.
Due to the ease of formulation and of programming, the proposed method provides an attractive alternative to the combined use of the gradient method and Lagrange multipliers.
On considere le fonctionnement optimal de systemes chimiques avec recyclage. On a mis au point une methode d'optimisation qui permet de trouver directement les variables de contrǒle.
On a verifie, au moyen de trois systemes de complexite differente, l'efficacite de ladite methode pour optimiser des systemes de genie chimique avec recyclage. On a obtenu, dans chaque cas, des resultats voisins de la valeur optimale; dans le cas de systemes complexes, il faut s'assurer qu'on obtient la valeur globale et non pas locale d'optimisation.
A cause de la facilite avec laquelle on peut la formuler et la programmer, la methode proposee fournit un remplacement interessant de l'emploi conjoint de la methode du gradient et des multiplicateurs de Lagrange.
