Tension management and capabilities in coopetition

Coopetition has become an important domain in today’s business practices, which had led to an increasing rate of publications. The literature has suggested that coopetition must be perceived though a paradox lens. Actors involved in coopetition experience tensions that stem from the paradox that materializes in the relationship. The objective of this paper is analyse the tension management in coopetition. In that sense, we suggest that tensions can be managed by developing a set of capabilities. Then, we analyse the coopetition capability and develop a model which defines a hierarchical structure of capabilities generated by coopetition capability.
