Study and Design of a High-speed on-off Valve Taken Rare Earth Alloy Material as Actuator

In order to improve the switching speed of an electro hydraulic high speed on off valve and the digital control accuracy of the fluid pulse width modulation (PWM), this paper made some researches about using the rare earth alloy giant magnetostrictive as an actuator to drive the hydraulic on off valve, and a kind of new high speed on off valve with a special structure was made. The results of simulation calculation and experiment showed that the valve had very high switch speed and frequency, and its on off time was less than 1ms. The control accuracy of electro hydraulic PWM can be much raised by using the high speed on off valve.
