PSPICE MODELLING AND SIMULATION OF THE SPIM FED BY 3-TO-2 PHASE MATRIX CONVERTER

In this work, PSPICE modelling and simulation of a threeto- two phase matrix converter feeding a single-phase induction motor has been performed. Venturini’s modulation algorithm has been used with a maximum voltage ratio which is obtained by adding third harmonics of the input and output signals to the output waveforms. The single-phase induction motor has been fed by three-to-single phase matrix converter. In this case, third harmonics have been seen on the output waveforms because of the modulation algorithm used to obtain maximum voltage ratio. Using a novel circuit arrangement, which has been proposed in this paper, third harmonics have been eliminated. In this arrangement the SPIM has been fed by three-to-two phase matrix converter. Promising Pspice simulation results have been obtained and presented.
