Research on a Novel Radant Lenticular Phase-Shifter

In this paper,the phased array technology based on Radant lens is introduced,which can greatly reduce the manufacture cost of phased array radar.Based on the analysis of basic structure and phase shifting function for the Radant lenticular phase shifter,a new structure of phase shifter Radant lens with a 5-bit digital phase setting is designed.Then the working principle of basic phase shifting unit is analyzed by use of the microwave equivalent-net theory and the main parameters that cause impact on insertion phase shifting are obtained.Furthermore,the numerical results calculated by the HFSS simulating software based upon FEM demonstrate that the structure is efficient in producing required insertion phase shifting and obtaining good transmission characteristic.Finally,two kinds of new basic phase shifting units that meet the project requirements are devised.
