Inter-enterprise workflow management systems

Electronic commerce is conceived as one of the major channels for performing commerce on a global scale, and the area is rapidly evolving. Currently, transferring and processing electronic data is handled separately from the enterprise support system, e.g., workflows, thus blurring the actual functionality of the supply chain. We propose an extension of a standard workflow model to enable the description and control of the full life cycle of a supply chain.
