A Preference Relation Model for Technology Assessment in Business Management

Nowadays technology has to support the competitive advantage of countries and at the same time sustainable the advanced industry growth patterns. Technology assessment (TA) is an essential tool of the 1990s to enable sustainable development and facilitate management of technology in the process of introducing new technologies to production and commercial phases. The goal of this paper is to reflect different aspects of technology assessment and their relative importance for business performance evaluation. The hierarchical model with multiple attributes has been developed to evaluate the alternative concepts in approaching technology assessment process on the corporate level. The presented model appears to be comprehensive, flexible and easy to implement in managerial practice. The illustrative example shows that in the case of mature high-tech units, the knowledge platform becomes a focus point of the technology assessment process.
