Markov chain reliability evaluations of fault-tolerant systems

Computer system reliability has become an important measure of computer system performance.Therefore,evaluations of computer reliability have great significance on systems design.This paper describes a reliability evaluation method for fault-tolerant computer systems based on Markov chains for the most common dual-redundant fault-tolerant systems.The reliability evaluation model is designed for the different states of fault-tolerant systems.Tests show that this method can effectively evaluate the reliability of fault-tolerant systems.
