Research on the Self-Organized Forming Process to Realize Distance-Only Node Localization in Underwater Acoustic Network

Location information of nodes is very meaningful to the building of underwater acoustic network. It can be used to fulfill a lot of work, such as partition of nodes' identities, building the routing table, and so on. Because of the restrictions of using GPS, a node localization algorithm based on the distance information is given in this paper, as well as a data transmitting algorithm which achieves no-collision information exchanges among nodes in the underwater acoustic network's self-organized forming process. Finally, the feasibility of fulfilling the distance-only node localization in the underwater acoustic network using the two algorithms above is validated through OPNET simulation.
