BEYOND THE PRODUCT-PROCESS MATRIX: FIT BETWEEN PRODUCTION PROCESS SPECIFICITY AND TASK ENVIRONMENT.

The product-process matrix is one of the best known prescriptive models in operations management. Yet, empirical evidence for its performance assertions is mixed. In this paper, we propose and test a more generalized theoretical model that accommodates both the propositions of the original model and the best-known departures from it.
