New method of BER calculate for impulse-UWB TH-PPM multiple-access communications

A simple derivation process was presented for the bit error rate (BER) performance analysis of the ultra wideband (UWB) time hopping (TH) multiple access impulse radio (IR) communication system employing pulse position modulation (PPM) in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with multiuser interference (MUI).In this derivation, the MUI was assumed a zero mean Gaussian process. The variance of the multiple access interference was computed from the statistical average of the error correlation output of the receiver correlator, which completed the correlation of the multiple access receiving signal and the local template signal in the receiver.Theoretical results are compared with simulation analysis.
