SER : EXPERT SYSTEM IN THE FAULT MANAGEMENT OF A RADIO-RELAY NETWORK

This paper deals with the development of a rule-based expert system, able to deal with the failures found in the private microwave communication network of the "Compañía Sevillana de Electricidad" (C.S.E.), SER, (Expert system for the fault management in a microwave network), works by helping a human operator, filtering and giving priority to the alarms which arrive to the control centre via the microwave network through a SCADA system, detecting the possible failures which produce these alarms and suppling recommendations for solving them. At the moment, a prototype with more then 130 rules has been implemented using the ART-IM SHELL operating within a SPARC workstation 10, applied to the supervision of this network. It is a sub-project from the NOMOS project, (Integrated Expert System for the Management of a Power utility's telecommunication network), sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Energy within the PIE framework. (PIE is the acronym of Electro-technical research programme).
