Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for controlling a black box for a vehicle. According to a specific example of the present invention, if a driving region is an area that is not available for receiving a GPS signal or a shadow region, a vehicle speed is detected based on a Y-axis value among three dimensional X, Y, and Z axes values detected from a G sensor to detect whether or not a vehicle is stopped. Then, the black box guides a driver by generating departure information of a precedent vehicle by detecting departure of the precedent vehicle. By detecting whether or not auto calibration of a current advance driver assistance systems (ADAS) is operating, a preset icon and a preset sound message are generated after auto calibrating the current ADAS, and are provided to the driver by using one of a visual method and an acoustic method. In addition, by detecting whether or not the vehicle deviates from a lane, a warning can be sounded.
