RAAM: Routing algorithm using ant agents for manets

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes which communicate over radio. These kinds of networks are very flexible, thus they do not require any existing infrastructure or central administration. Therefore, mobile ad-hoc networks are suitable for temporary communication links. The biggest challenge in this kind of networks is to find a path between the communication end points, which is aggravated through the node mobility. In this paper we describe RAAM framework for routing in mobile ad hoc networks based on ideas from the Nature-inspired Ant Colony Optimization framework. RAAM makes extensive use of ant like mobile agents which samples full paths between source and destination nodes. This framework focuses on both proactive and reactive components. RAAM makes extensive use of ant like mobile agents which samples full paths between source and destination nodes Paths are learnt by guided Monte Carlo Sampling using the agents communicating in a stigmergic way.
