Wireless sensor network deployment based on fish-swarm optimization algorithm

Deployment optimization can improve the coverage and quality of service for wireless sensor networks(WSNs).A new deployment method based on fish-swarm algorithm was proposed for WSNs consisting of many mobile and stationary sensor nodes. The movement of mobile nodes was analogized to the follow and prey action of the artificial fish with the network coverage as object function, and the virtual force factor was introduced to direct the moving and updating status of artificial fish.Simulation results show that this algorithm can improve the network coverage and performance efficiently with the better ability for global searching.
