This paper is concerned with a dilution of precision (DOP) simulation considering line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS). Multilatelation (MLAT) system is used for estimating the position of the aircraft on an airport surface, and its basic principle is equivalent to GPS positioning. DOP is the standard value for the accuracy of the positioning. In the system deployment, we have so far computed DOP values in the LOS case between a source and a receiver. However, evaluating of LOS/NLOS on the ground area should not be ignored because they lead to the accuracy of MLAT in the multipath environment in which many obstacles exist. In this paper, we propose a method which is able to treat LOS and NLOS for the DOP simulation. Firstly, we review the basic DOP computation. Next, we describe a principle of the proposed method. Then, we compare the numerical simulation and the experimental result. Finally, we conclude that the proposed method is useful for evaluating propagation environment.
