Machine vision system for water shortage indication of tomato plants using local orientation

Abstract On line measurements of plant growth in greenhouses are substantial part of artificial intelligence. Plant monitoring procedure based on machine vision and including a PC connected video camera along with image analyzing software being developed. The side projected canopy images, displaying the plant states, are acquired by digital camera at user defined time scales. The image analyzing program has been compiled in c code. It measures the growth of the plants in vivo and in situ and continuously calculating the shape and size of the plant focusing on the leaf edge inclination states under quasi-optimal and stress conditions.
