Micro-annealing studies of Pt/Co multilayers for magneto-optic recording applications

Microannealing studied of the hysteresis properties of microscopic regions of Pt/Co multilayers as a function of the number of write cycles are described. Coercivity was found to increase quite dramatically, while Kerr rotation and loop squareness were reduced. Similar results were obtained for bulk-annealing, and have been explained in terms of Pt and Co diffusion and crystalline growth. >
