Simulation of Indoor Air Micro-flow Features in Fresh Air Handling Unit in a Typical Residential Building

Abstract In this paper, a typical residential building model was established and the characteristics of air distribution for three schematic layouts were simulated by changing the location and quantity of air diffusers. Then, the three dimensional micro-flow field distribution, vector, cloud, and streamline chart of typical cross section were discussed in-depth. The results showed that there was no obvious draft sensation in the cross section of the human respiratory zone under these three modes. The air distribution presented the best uniformity and accessibility under the schematic layout 1, namely including five supply air inlets and five return air outlets. However, the air accessibility was only about 70% under the schematic layout 3, which indicated the ventilation efficiency was most inferior under this schematic layout.
