Heat dissipation evaluation and optimization of air cooling induction motor used for mini electric vehicle

Air cooling motor in mini electric vehicle has high power density, internal heat sinking conditions are poor, thermal design and temperature control of the motor are put forward high requirement[1]. In this paper, the relationship between electromagnetic load and loss is deduced, the equivalent thermal network model of air cooling motor is constructed, and the regular of temperature rising distribution is calculated. The optimal design scheme of cooling system is put forward, and the temperature rising of each part of motor under different electromagnetic loads is calculated. From the simulation results, the power density of motor is improved significantly after cooling system was optimized.
