Citrate in the Surface Enamel of Unerupted and Erupted Teeth

Citrate content was determined in the outer surface enamel of unerupted human teeth. The citrate content of the outer surface enamel of erupted teeth was higher than that of unerupted teeth, suggesting that citrate is absorbed from the oral environment after eruption of the teeth. No inverse correlation was found between the citrate and fluoride content of the surface enamel of erupted teeth.
