Editor's Message to Special Issue of Applications and the Internet in Conjunction with Main Topics of COMPSAC 2017

It is our great honor to have the special issue of “Applications and the Internet in Conjunction with Main Topics of COMPSAC 2017” in IPSJ Journal of Information Processing (JIP). The IEEE International Conference on Computers, Software & Applications (COMPSAC) is one of the premium international forums for academia, industries, and governments to discuss research results, advancements and future trends in computers, software technologies, and applications. COMPSAC 2017 was held with the theme of “Building Digital Autonomy for a Sustainable World” in Turin, Italy, on July 4-8, 2017. Among a wide range of topics covered by COMPSAC, several symposia cover a broad range of networking and computing technologies as well as advanced applications and services. We planned this special issue to publish premium research contributions of these research areas presented in COMPSAC. The main scope of this special issue was shown in CFP but not limited to the following symposia of the COMPSAC 2017: • EATA: Emerging Advances in Technology & Applications • NCIW: Networks, Communications, Internet & Web Technologies • SEPT: Security, Privacy & Trust in Computing • SETA: Software Engineering Technologies & Applications We received seven (7) submissions. Among those we carefully selected four (4) papers for publication. In addition to them, we invited one (1) paper from major researchers related to COMPSAC. One prominent researcher around COMPSAC accepted our invitation: Professor Tugkan Tuglular of Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey, who was one of NCIW symposium co-chairs in COMPSAC 2017. Finally, we would like to deeply express our sincere gratitude to all the members of the editorial committee, who made great efforts to complete this special issue.
