Hybrid GWO-PSO Algorithm for Solving Convex Economi c Load Dispatch Problem

Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a swarm inte llect based meta-heuristic technique which finds th e optimum solution of problem by moving particles in search space. Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) is a new meta-heuristic inspired by grey wolves. The leadership hierarchy a nd hunting mechanism of the grey wolves is mimicked in GWO. In this paper GWO has been hybridized with PSO algorithm to improve the performance of GWO. The objective of ELD problem is to minimize the total generation cost wh ile fulfilling the different constraints, when the necessary load demand of a power system is being supplied. The proposed t echnique is implemented on three different test sys tem for solving the ELD with various load demands. To show the effectiv eness of hybrid GWO-PSO to solve ELD problem result s were compared with other existing techniques.
