Distribution of Unique Performances for Shape Memory Alloy Composite

In present study, composites which consist of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) fiber and epoxy matrix were fabricated. Then, the distribution of unique performances such as creating of internal stress in matrix and deformation ability (deformation of composite) were investigated by using photoelastic method and digital image correlation method under thermo-loading process (heating-cooling process). Furthermore, temperature distribution on the surface of composite was investigated by using infrared radiation thermometry method. Deformation ability of composite becomes large due to austenite transformation of fiber with increasing temperature. But deformation ability has distribution along the transversal direction of fiber. Internal stress in matrix changes with temperature. And there exists distribution along not only transversal direction but also longitudinal direction of the fiber in composite. Also, recovery of fringe pattern is observed after cooling. The surface of composite has temperature distribution along the transversal direction of specimen. The surface temperature of composite is relatively high, reaching at 50.0 when temperature of fiber is 90.4 .
