Fuzzy logic based efficiency improvement of an urban electric vehicle

In the paper a fuzzy logic based energy management system is used in order to properly control the energy generation and energy exchanges in a hybrid vehicle. Such an application of fuzzy logic seems to be attractive due to the complexity of the whole system, composed of several subsystems including electrical, mechanical, and electrochemical components, and also to the fact that some physical quantities are hardly measurable. Development of the fuzzy control system shows the validity and convenience of a qualitative approach instead of a deterministic one. An extensive set of simulations is presented in order to demonstrate the consistency of the proposed control system.<<ETX>>
