Statistical analysis of alternative storage and retrieval strategies in end-of-Aisle automated storage and retrieval systems

Alternative storage and retrieval strategies in End-of-Aisle automated storage and retrieval systems are discussed, and their performances are compared. In particular, we analyze and compare results of different storage policies, sequencing rules and layouts that have to be determined in End-of-Aisle systems. The performance analysis is carried out through simulation analysis. The performance measures considered for the evaluation of each scenario are total travel time of the crane, the number of storage and retrieval operations performed by the crane and the average idle time of the crane. The comparison of policies provides a base for selecting the most suitable policy. Results are reported.
