has been assessed in almost all cane growing countries for its idespread adoption of the technology into cane sugar factories. of membrane technology and considers factors contributing to the cane sugar industry. An overview of the potential benefits membrane filtration technology is presented. Ongoing research and the processes involving the use of membranes as a precursor to ion exchange IC separation processes to enable white sugar to be produced in the raw factory reviewed. The loss of sucrose in the retentate stream and some of the options available to reduce e sucrose loss are discussed. Results of modelling simulations to assess the implications of the fferent retentate treatments are provided to allow an interpretation of the options.
