Technical Evaluation of Textile Finishing Treatments

The nature and use of the Kendall coefficients of rank correlation and of concordance are presented with details of the methods of computa tion involved. They are found to be superior to the Spearman coefficient previously used both as a matter of convenience and of statistics. This discussion is given in anticipation of the papers immediately following in this series which will make frequent use of the Kendall rating system.
