Foveal Flicker Sensitivity Abnormalities Associated with Visual Field Defects in the Elderly

This study of visual function in the elderly evolved from previous studies mainly on the basis of one simple premise: namely, that detection of functional deficit due to glaucoma may be enhanced by testing the eye while it responds near the limit of its operating range. To achieve this state, we measured flicker sensitivity while the eye was in the process of adapting to somewhat extreme (but harmless) stimulus conditions.
