PALLADIUM-CATALYZED TRANSFORMATION OF ARENEDIAZONIUM SALTS TO ACYL ARENES BY ORGANOTIN COMPOUNDS AND CARBON MONOXIDE

Arenediazonium salts (ArN2X; Ar=2-Me–C6H4, 3-Me–C6H4, 4-Me–C6H4, 2-Cl–C6H4, 4-Cl–C6H4, 4-Br–C6H4, 4-I–C6H4, 3-NO2–C6H4, 4-NO2–C6H4 and C6H5; X=BF4 and PF6) were effectively transformed to acyl arenes (ArCOR; R=Me, Et and Ph) in good yields (55–90%) by R4Sn and CO under palladium catalysis.
