Analysis of an Optimal Flight Path of Subsonic Transport Aircraft for Fuel Saving

A modeling of the flight path, that is, altitude and velocity of subsonic transport aircraft using time variable function has been carried out to determine an optimal flight path for fuel saving. The change of parameters such as thrust and fuel flow rate at any flight conditions is analyzed based on the equation of motion, polar curve for Q , Q j and engine performance sheet. It is found that this model represented the actual flight conditions well and the effects of the rate of climb and descent and acceleration and deceleration have been made clear in detail on any flight path. There can be an optimal flight path to reduce the block fuel consumption based on this method.
