In this article the author considers a highly acetylated cellulose acetate as a safety film support for motion pictures. It has improved physical characteristics such as greater tensile strength, rigidity, and low shrinkage, and improved ageing properties. He describes the tests used on the film in which it compares favorably with film then in use. As a positive film it has proven well, as a negative film it also has great possibilities. The low shrinkage characteristics offer the possibility of improved printing characteristics.
