Recently, due to the large-scale demand-side distributed energy resources (DERs) integration, regulation capability of low-voltage distribution areas (LVDAs) has been greatly influenced, which needs to be evaluated to guide the future planning strategy. This paper proposes an evaluation index system for the regulation capability of LVDAs, including equipment response capability, economic benefit, energy supply quality and off-grid operation capability. The analytic hierarchy process is used to determine the judgment matrix of each level indicators and the corresponding weights are calculated. The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method based on membership degree is used to comprehensively evaluate the regulation capability of LVDAs, then the final score is graded. The proposed evaluation method is verified by two typical low-voltage distribution areas. The results show that the scientific evaluation of the regulation ability in a distribution area can help guide the precise investment of power grid resources, and improve the operational safety of LVDAs and the economic benefits of users.
