Attack-resistant Secure Localization Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks ⋆

How to obtain the sensor nodes’ information securely and efficiently is one of the most important issues in the present wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Especially, in an adversarial environment, various kinds of attacks become possible if malicious anchor nodes could claim fake locations that are different from their physical locations. In this paper, we propose an attack-resistant localization algorithm for WSNs to stand against the malicious anchor nodes. First, we use the consistency-based trust evaluation to identify and filter out the malicious anchor nodes. Then, the sensor nodes locations are estimated by a Taylor-series least squares method with combination. Simulation results show that the algorithm can detect compromised anchor nodes effectively and greatly improve the localization accuracy.
