(1) Advances in Exxon proprietary RT family of catalysts have provided new processing options for increasing conversion with the commercially demonstrated Residfining technology. (2) Residfining processing extensions include a high temperature operation strategy. The high temperature operation allows extending 1050F/sup +/ conversion levels from 10-15 percent typically observed at low temperature start-of-run conditions to 45-50 percent with Arabian Light residuum. Coversion was further extended to levels in excess of 60 percent with a promising reactor system in combination with the proprietary catalysts. Product qualities were quite good for the various liquid product fractions requiring minmum downstream upgrading. 10 refs.
