Development of a computer-aided sketch system for mammograms

We have been developing a computer-aided diagnosis system for mammograms for several years, and some technical approaches to identify lesion areas such as mammographic masses, spicules or clustered microcalcifications have been introduced. The purpose of this study is to develop an automated illustrating system that can be an aid for radiologists when they make a schema for abnormal mammogram. In this system, users (radiologists) can modify the regions displayed on CRT monitor by using a pointing device. Their final schemata were stored after appropriate borders were automatically determined by using defined borders based on automated detection system. As an initial result by employing 430 digitized images, the automated defined region and illustrated images were almost satisfied with what radiologists required.
