Performance improvement of Squirrel cage rotor by design aspects

This paper describes the reliability improvement of Squirrel cage Induction Motor (SCIM) by consideration of rotor design parameters for the given stator. The proposed design is going to minimize the problems associated with operation during peak time like overloading. Overloading is one of the main concerns for the developing countries where there is rapid fluctuation in the load. In order to improve overload capacity, air gap length has been increased to the optimum point, without undermining parameters like efficiency, reliability & economy of Squirrel cage induction motor. Besides dealing with overloading, the designed motor also minimize the unwanted parameters like Temperature Rise, Pulsation loss, cogging, crawling, vibration, voltage ripple, unbalanced magnetic pull and noise.
