Scalable Ontology Implementation Based On knOWLer

In this paper we describe the knOWLer System an ontology-based information system. The knOWLer project focuses on the aspects of making ontologies available to real world applications. Therefore, a lot of effort was made to create a stable and scalable system that is able to manage millions of ontological statements. In the paper, we will detail the basic architecture of the system and illustrate the performance of the system based on some benchmark queries encountered in a wide range of applications. The results are compared with those obtained from another state of the art systems namely Jena. We were able to show that knOWLer was much faster for the given ontologies and queries.
