Dual-sliding-mode observer for SOC estimations

A sliding mode-based observer is proposed in order to estimate the state-of-charge (SOC) of a Li-ion battery. The proposed observer is designed based on high-order sliding modes attaining a low level of chattering, which becomes quite attractive. The battery's state estimation is made through a charge/discharge cycle, calculating the model's parameters. Then, one observer estimates the SOC; such information is sent to a second observer who assesses the SOH. Results show that the proposition reaches reliable performance.
