Scintigraphy Of The Gastrointestinal Tract In Swine

ABSTRACT Using scintigraphy as a digesta flow measurement technique is advantageous because it is non-invasive and the collection of data is less time consuming relative to most other measurement techniques, such as aspiration of gastric contents or cannulation. Scintigraphy is examined as a digesta flow measurement technique in pigs. The technique looks promising as a quantitative measurement of gastric emptying of both liquid and solid (dry matter) particles. However, using this technique for flow measurement in other compartments such as the small intestine or cecum may be difficult or even impossible in pigs.
