Temperature-dependent Gain Characteristics of InAs/InP Quantum Dash Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

This paper presents an InAs/InP quantum dash (QD) semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) operating between S- and C- bands. By using this QD-SOA we systematically investigate the gain characteristics under different temperature conditions. The peak value of the gain factor decreases linearly with the temperature. It demonstrate a peak fiber-to-fiber gain of 13.4 dB. This provide insight toward the application of QD-SOAs to the field of signal amplification and signal processing for all-optical optical networks.
